Marc Jacobs hosts Richard Prince dinner
Marc Jacobs came to London yesterday to host an exclusive dinner for an artist (and Louis Vuitton collaborator) Richard Prince. The event took place in celebration of the opening of Prince’s exhibition at the West London gallery. Among the exhibits are several paintings from the Nurses series, which inspired Louis Vuitton's autumn/winter 2008-9 collection. Claudia Schiffer, James Franco, Lily Cole and many more joined the Jacobs to raise a glass to the artists.

It has been just confirmed that Agyness Deyn will replace the Tomb Raider actress as the face of Shiseido. The movie star signed on as ambassador for the Japanese cosmetics brand two years ago and now she is being outed by the Manchester model. Bruno Salzer joins Escada
Bruno Salzer was named as the Escada chief and a member of the board of management yesterday and is believed to bring stability to firm, which has issued two profit warnings this year. "Managing Escada is an exciting challenge, and I am very much looking forward to it," he said. "Few brands in the luxury fashion industry combine such worldwide renown with such great untapped potential. Escada must definitely act promptly to catch back up with its competitors, but we will make it."
Victoria Beckham to launch her ready-to-wear line
Victoria Beckham is stepping up from her denim line, sunglasses line and fragrance line to design a full ready-to-wear collection, which will be unveiled at New York Fashion Week in September. "It will be something completely different from what I've ever done. I'm just putting it together at the moment, but they will be very upscale dresses and likely will start at around $1,200 retail. I’m going to be using very expensive fabrics and finishes, lots of embroideries," she added.

The new Kate Moss fragrance called Velvet Hour is reported to be launched in September. The supermodel has looked to dusk as inspiration for her second scent, that combines patchouli, sandalwood and incense along with amber, nutmeg and freesia "There's that feeling -'Oh, night time's coming again, thank goodness. Jil Sander's new Chinatown store
The new Jil Sander’s boutique was opened in New York last week. The venue is located on Howard Street in Chinatown and is the third NY store of the label. A crowed that included Hope Atherton, Maria Cornejo and Cecilia Dean came out to celebrate the opening. "This store is about transporting light and transporting ideas," explained creative director Raf Simons.

Road safety chiefs in France have chosen the famous designer as the face of their latest campaign to encourage drivers to wear light-reflecting clothing when traveling at night. The poster with Lagerfeld in a fluorescent yellow vest carries the tag line

Gianfranco Ferre fashion empire
It is over a year since Italian fashion legend Gianfranco Ferre died, but his team continues to develop the brand he founded into a global force in a fashion industry. The label has just opened a new store in China to bring the total number of boutiques in the country to 18. As for many businesses, Asia remains a key source of investment for the label, which has achieved 55 per cent growth in turnover for the past three seasons.
Louis Vuitton closes in China
Louis Vuitton flagship store in Hangzhou was closed down due to lack of material samples on them. According to local media, Chinese officials were disputing product quality and decided to confiscated the majority of the store's merchandise. "We're working toward a solution and think one will be found in the next few days," explainss Louis Vuitton China's communication director.

Harry Potter actress Emma Watson is said to replace Keira Knightley as the face of Chanel. "Emma has been slowly integrated into the Chanel brand. They have been dressing her for film premieres and parties over recent months to see if she is the right fit. The Dutch design duo Viktor & Rolf have turned blogger on nytimes.com to reveal what goes on behind the scenes of their exclusive exhibition at London’s barbican Art Gallery. "We always have mixed feelings when it comes to fashion exhibitions because somehow, life is taken out of the subject. YVES SAINT LAURENT just announced that the brand is going to launch a standalone space at London's coolest shopping spot, Dover Street Market.Opening is planned for July 3, at the area located on the third floor. The whole space will be created by theatrical set designer Michael Howells. What is more, it is said that Stafano Pilati, the current creative director of the brand, will be making a regular appearance in the store.

The decade of supermodels like Eva Herzigova or Naomi Campbell ended years ago making room for new faces and totally fresh look of catwalk girls - more skinny, androgynous, often not beautiful but just different and original. Burberry reaping rewards
British label Burberry has announced sales growth of 25 per cent in the first months of 2008. The key driving force for profits rise was exposure of some of brand’s pieces in the Sex and the City. "We continue to see double-digit sales growth in the US," finance director Stacy Cartwright confirms. "We are very under-penetrated in this market. There is lots more to go for there."
