Alessandra Facchinetti for Valentino

Alessandra Facchinetti has just created her first haute couture collection designed for the house of Valentino. She incorporated Valentino signature flourishes - red, embroidery and lace - with a focus on shapes and workmanship. "For the first time in this business, I felt serene and calm; a bit like when you're holding a newborn," says the 35-year-old designer. "I guess creating a couture gown is a bit like having a child - they both grow day by day, step by step. I know it can sound strange, but I never imagined couture could be so soothing."
